On August 18th to 25th, Vordingborg's town theatre Cantabile 2 organizes the Waves festival for the ninth time. For the past 18 years, Waves has been a showcase for contemporary theatre, whether it is based on visual drama, dance or performance art. This year the focus is on New Circus.
The opening takes place at 20.30 in Vordingborg South Harbor, where Cantabile 2 presents its own production Bycirkus Berserk on and around a large silo.
Over the years many internationally acclaimed theatre companies have visited the Waves festival, giving danish spectators a good opportunity to know, see and feel what is going on in the European theatre scene.
And contrary to other festivals comparable to Waves, but set in major urban settings, the small town of Vordingborg guarantees a 360 degrees ,total experience, as the whole town is transformed into a living stage, also by Waves OFF buskers, performing in the streets and town squares.
New Circus
Waves 2007 - New Circus presents the most spectacular program in its 18 year history, welcoming, amongst others, the legendary Compagnie Philippe Genty, and many other international companies.
Waves OFF
Waves OFF is a multitude of street performances, that is introduced for the first time this year. Here mimes, jugglers, acrobats, magicians, and musicians from all over Europe will conquer the streets everyday in the shopping hours. They perform in the old street tradition, and they pass their hat around, for the audience to reward them.
